Red Tape Rants

There is a great new blog out – Red Tape Rants – by Sylvia Tidy-Harris, here is one – it’ll make you’re head spin:

“I was looking to import an electrical item currently sold in the USA – below is the advice on what areas of legislation apply – The cost of getting all the compliance testing done would be about £4000 on a product that would only sell in small quantities (100 a year would be a great success) at a margin of around £25 per unit… LVD, EMC, RoHS, WEEE. Under the LVD, you would need to comply with the current versions of EN60335-2-9 and EN50366. Under EMC you would need to comply with the current versions of EN55014 and associated standards.”

There is much more, some of it I have said here before. ST.
