Water is a basic human right, at the fundamental core of environmental, communal and personal health, yet vast areas of the world still have no access to potable drinking water.
This year’s Blog Action Day will bring together people from all over the world and unite them on this single issue. Thousands of blogs from 130 different countries with a captive audience of over 30 million people have already joined to focus on one big issue – Water!
Every year over 2 million people die from water borne diseases and over 1.1 billion of the world’s population is without clean water. In the meantime, developed nations squander this precious resource, through leaking pipe networks and general misuse. Even where potable water is available there is still great injustice. South Americans can spend more than 20% of their income on water whereas 3% in the UK is officially classed as a hardship. It is the moral obligation of the developed world to come together and right this wrong
Today, on the 15th October, bloggers are joining together to focus on this moral outrage. Blog Action Day will unite the world’s bloggers to post on the same issue on the same day with the aim of driving global discussion and collective action.
If you want to be part of the big day then go to www.blogactionday.org and register your voice. There are hundreds of topics to discuss, visit www.blogactionday.change.org for ideas and suggestions and – together – the bloggers of the world can make a difference.
