Today the world is talking about Cloud Computing following Microsoft’s announcement regarding Microsoft Office 365. Microsoft billed cloud computing as “the platform for the next generation of business” and whilst regular readers of my blog will know I am a great advocate for cloud computing, I think that Microsoft has missed the mark.
In fact, at a networking event I attended yesterday, I was not the only one who felt this way. Many small businesses feel that Microsoft are not in tune with the needs of small businesses, who need not only software, but also support. Steve Jobs’ statement that integrated software will always trump fragmented is also true when it comes to small business software and support services – an integrated solution is better than a fragmented solution.
