Do you ever find it difficult to get the message across when dealing with staff or team members online? In our increasingly virtual world it has become easier than ever to communicate in real-time, but in some ways it is more difficult than ever to communicate effectively.
This interesting blog by Keith Ferrazzi on the Harvard Business Review hits the nail on the head by pointing out that we often struggle because of the lack of context that comes with online communication.
For example, does an exclamation mark mean that the person you are talking to via email is excited, happy or annoyed? Unless you have context it could be any of those three. It could even be ALL of those three at once!
