Not every social media platform is used equally and that should be reflected in your social media marketing.
Some platforms see much heavier usage than others. Google+ recently became the second largest social network, but as the infographic below shows, that market penetration has not translated to increased usage.
The data (compiled by the Wall Street Journal in January 2012) shows that at the time Google+ was only averaging three minutes per user per month, compared to 405 minutes per user on Facebook.
These numbers are bad for Google and it seems unlikely that they have dramatically increased in the last year. But no-one even gets close to Facebook, with the nearest competitors Tumblr and Pinterest getting a respectable 89 minutes average per user.
