This is an interesting article from Wired about the Technovation Challenge – the first ever computer science competition exclusively for girls.
Over the last four years the tech competition has grown from a small event with just 45 girls to this year having more than 600 take part.
The journey of how it has grown from a pilot scheme into a huge nationwide event in the US is worth reading. Getting more females involved in computer science from a young age is an important step and something that has been required for a long time in such a male dominated industry.
Hopefully in the next few years we will start to see many more female tech entrepreneurs.
