Entrepreneurship is in fashion

It may have all started with Dragon’s Den, but entrepreneurship competitions have never been as popular as they are now. Why do so many large companies and universities now run their own versions of these competitions and why do we love them so much?

The answer to the second part of that question probably lies within the natural competitiveness of all business ventures. You have to strive to be the best or else you are just more likely to fail.

But the first part requires a more cynical answer. Most of the competitions are basically a form of advertisement and brand awareness for the company that started the competition. But is the over-saturation of entrepreneurship competitions now only serving to devalue them as a whole?
