“Your career is literally your business.”
That quote was by noted US management theorist Theodore Levitt, former editor of the Harvard Business Review and credited with the popularisation of the term ‘globalisation’.
Andrew Grove, the co-founder of Intel Corporation later added to the quote:
“Your career is literally your business. You own it as a sole proprietor. You have one employee: yourself. You need to accept ownership of your career, your skills and the timing of your moves.”
This is important advice for anyone thinking of starting their business or changing career. It is easy to make a change, but the timing of any move is perhaps even more critical.
