That quote was by famous US writer Ayn Rand (1905-82) and those words are important to any small business. If you are attempting to sell your products and services, you need to have actually created them first.
In the early days of any business there is a temptation to skip forward through parts of the development process onto the part that will actually start making you money. Often the result of getting too far ahead of yourself is that you end up selling a half complete product or selling a promise of a future product to early backers.
The rise of crowdsourcing funding for what are ostensibly just great ideas is potentially just making this problem worse.
