I agree, I rely on the post office quite heavily and whenever there is a strike, my clients who require leaflet distribution from me have to go elsewhere. Couries maybe happy though.

My drum teacher was a postman, and he used to say that when strikes were called at Royal Mail, even if you didn't agree with them, you didn't go to work. Otherwise you might find your car tyres slashed. So it may well be that not everyone at Royal Mail agrees with the strikes.

That aside, whoever's organising the latest series of Royal Mail strikes is in severe danger of shooting themselves in the foot. Because I can see small businesses, and other users of the post, getting so fed up with these frequent strikes that, as Stefan says, they switch to a new service provider, which may well be online.

And then, as the demand for their services reduces, there will be redundancies at Royal Mail.

So the strike will bring them exactly what they're fighting against.

Is the old fashioned method or methods of advertising, still worth their salt. Namely Leafleting, radio, word of mouth. With the internet now firmly in place and not looking like it is going anywhere soon, a lot of the old practices seem almost antiquated. I guess they still have their place. It'll be interesting to see how the whole thing levels out in a decade from now.
