Many small businesses don’t have the time or resources to adequately monitor their own financial status, no less the ability to screen the finances of their partners, vendors, suppliers or customers.

Excellent advice and right on the mark! This is the one element missing in most of the business books. Everyone of them tell new business owners to "have a vision/mission statement" but very few tell them how important it can be to consider what success means for them in their business.

Understandable, especially for those of us who are in the business of helping potential entrepreneurs get going. Thanks for the 'smack on the head!'.
