UK: Cash still important for High Street

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has revealed that cash is still the king when it comes to UK retail sales. In an analysis of 10 billion retail payments in 2012 (accounting for 60% of total sales), cash was the preferred method of payment for 54%.

But worryingly, the amount of transactions and money spent was down for the first time in the 13-year history of the survey.
