Executives: Quote of the Week

“At a time when restraint and sacrifice are being asked of every citizen, the American people will find it hard, as I do, to accept a situation in which a tiny handful of steel executives whose pursuit of private power and profit exceeds their sense of public responsibility can show such utter contempt for the interests of 185 million Americans.”

Fifty years ago today, America was still in shock at the murder of the President John F. Kennedy the day before. Most people over a certain age are able to tell you exactly where they were when they found out the sad news.

This quote by him is in reference to the steel industry, but it is interesting that fifty years on the exact same quote would be utterly relevant in reference to the bank executives of today!
