White collar crime does pay, doesn’t it?
My favourite group of people, the bankers, are in the news again. This time it is not mainly about fraud, but about £16.5m extra bonuses paid by Barclays Bank to its executives.
While the rest of us has to live with cuts to our welfare state, these guys are paying themselves more and more money, even when the business performance of the bank is down.
To be ‘fair’ these amounts are small in comparison to the amounts set aside by the bank for possible fines for fraud and misconduct, if that makes anyone feel any better!?
While this so called recovery, is only really felt by a small number of people, for most of us it is nothing more than hearsay.
Is it then a wonder, that more and more people get disenfranguisejd from the whole system and surely must wonder if crime pays?
